Creating Online Polls are a Great Way of Developing Loyal Visitors

By Rashelle Colsinger

You say you want visitors to return to your site? You say you want them to hang around for a while and take in all you have to offer? So, how to do it?

First you have to get visitors to your site. Creating a regular online poll is just one way to do that. After they're there, you have enough quality to keep them there. If not, you'd better get busy! In any event, you should consider adding polls into your site.

Online poll are extremely easy to create from scratch because there's just a lot of great tools available to the website owner (most of it free) to download and install. If you're a WordPress blogger, you can download poll plugins that are unique to WordPress.

So, how does a poll increase loyalty? Think about it. If you knew that someone was creating a daily poll that was interesting and intriguing, would you return to it? Absolutely.

Polls can range from a few hours to years and everything in between. I have two poll sites, one that expires every day with a new poll to take its place. The second is a weekly poll and it expires after a week. Again, I replace it with another thought-provoking poll.

My online poll hasn't been up but for a few days, but I already have a few loyal visitors. Now a few loyal visitors may not seem like much but, these are people I've never seen before who live in a different part of the world than I do, and they want to know what I will be posting tomorrow!

If you use Wordpress, take a look at the WP-Polls plugin and the online poll at Polldaddy.com. One of those two apps should suffice for your needs. It takes a bit of trial and error to set up WP-Polls, but after it's set up, it's very easy to maintain. Polldaddy is simple and easy to set up. You are a bit limited in the format of the poll, but for ease and heartache, you can't beat it.
