SEO and Backlink Building

By Justin Harrison

Backlinks can help raise your site from the bottom on the barrel to the top of the search engine list. This kind of feat takes more than just good SEO tactics on your site. It takes a few quality backlinks from others.

Backlinks are links from other websites or blogs that link to your website. Some good backlinks will do more than anything you do on your own site.

When evaluating links for popularity, search engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo, look at how often your site is linked to by an outside person. This link is considered a vote for the information you have provided on your site. By linking, it show that someone valued the information on your site. The more links you have, the better your site must be.

When you use the internet for your business, make sure you put as much information that you can about it. This will help people get to know who you are and what you are trying to sell them. And if you are up front, then you will get repeat business.

Having good anchor text in your backlinks is also very important if you want to up your site traffic. You want these links to include your main keywords whenever it is possible to increase your ranks. Now that we have explained the importance of backlinks, let us investigate a few ways to get them.

The best way to get links to your site is to offer content that is high-quality and unique. Try being controversial or different. This will make people link to your site.

Try to make it really easy for other websites to link to your website. Try setting up a "link to us" page to simplify the process. Also, make sure that you include keywords in the anchor text.

Create articles and enter them in directories containing articles. This will cause them to be selected and posted on many sites with links to your site in the Resource Box. Just one article could result in dozens of links. You might also pick a few sites in your target market and offer to provide a regular column. Or agree to share content so each site receives a hyperlink.
