Bathroom Lighting

By Tom Sanderrs

These days people use their bathrooms for more than just a clean-up and shave. Bathrooms have become one of the most individualistic rooms in the modern home and a far cry from the bathrooms of long ago. When choosing your light fixtures for the bathroom, you could very well be quite surprised with the vast range.

Conventional florescent ceiling lighting does do a lot to illuminate the whole bathroom but has its drawbacks. Harsh lighting works fine sometimes, but what about when you just feel like some soft lighting. These days people tend to take long relaxing baths and spend more time on grooming. For this reason, lighting options are a great idea for a bathroom, so you can have soft relaxing light when you need it, or extra light when you want.

Tasks like applying makeup and shaving sometimes require extra lights and vanity lights are perfect for this need. There are numerous styles that match even the most individual requirements and bring a personal and unique feel to your vanity.

Track lighting is great for all areas of your home, including bathrooms. Track lighting lamps can be moved to suit your room or your needs. LED lighting is perfect in track lighting styles. LEDs have been around for a long time but are only just now starting to get widespread recognition.

New LED lighting can give you sophisticated results with all sorts of colors and styles available in the lighting range. You can really enjoy making your bathroom a fun place to be with some of the options that are available.

Jacuzzis and spas are more common these days with bathrooms increasing in size to accommodate more lavish accessories. Underwater lighting is a great way to create mood and colored lights can be used to add atmosphere.

Lights of different hues can be used to generate a warm atmosphere or just create a beautiful effect like that you would see in a magazine or film. Soft yellow and warm oranges produce a romantic atmosphere, while blue and green hues will make your bathroom unique and personal. It's an easy way to change the whole feel of your bathroom without having to resort to the expense of redecorating.

Recessed lighting is perfect for bathrooms because it isn't as prone to the accumulation of moisture as other light fixtures. Recessed lighting fixtures therefore last much longer than other types of lighting fixtures.

You can make your bathroom not just functional but personal and trendy with some really good choices in the lighting range. Planning is an important part of choosing light fixtures, so it's a good idea to put some thought into the sort of room you want before you start searching.
