The Drawbacks of Free Web Hosting

By Charles Thomas

Free is a very attractive word. People are drawn to things that are free. People all over the internet find things that are free very appealing. Companies provide free web hosting plans which give you free web space.

It is a very attractive plan. But before accepting this plan we have to think a lot. Beginner are highly satisfied with this because it is capable of complete your needs. But the very important thing is you may use professional paid web hosting plan to solve some serious problems.

If the webpage you plan on hosting is not an official website and is quite informal such as webpage for your journal then free web hosting is a good choice. Free web hosting would allow you to host your files with advert banners from different companies on the sides of your webpage. People usually use this services to store images, journals and documents so that they will be able to access from anywhere on the internet.

It's always nice to have the advantage of not having to pay for a service that you normally would otherwise have to pay for it. You can even have your own domains, subdomains, and directories. They are fine choices for very small websites and/or businesses. It's actually a good starting point for new website builders so they can have an idea of what to expect. But you have to keep your expectations realistic.

Most times these free web hosting services offer very limited hosting space. The space offered by them might not be sufficient enough for you especially if you have plans for your business to grow. You will have to use the small disk space and bandwidth they provide and may not be able to add hot links to video and music files.

While free web hosting plans generally have the same kind of uptime as paid web hosting plans and services, there are some drawbacks. For instance, sometimes you will have to post on the forums of the web hosting company. The reason they do this is as kind of payback for getting free hosting. They want you to help them take care of the new customers.

Also, you have to be wary of the pop-ups and other advertisements that you are going to have to deal with from these web hosting companies.

These three types have their different limitations. Though, the approved activation usually provides bigger disk space and bandwidth. Paid hosting gives you the choice of controlling your website and is quite reliable.

Free Hosting is not recommended especially if you're trying to build a business around that website.

You would have no control over it and the advertising on your free account will make your page look very unprofessional.
