Exceptional Movies From Pixar

By Ricardo R Lawrence

Pixar, a computer animated movie studio, has brought us movies that are beloved by children and adults alike. Pixar has made only 10 films altogether but each of them has been a commercial and critical success. The studio has earned twenty-two Academy Awards, four Golden Globes and three Grammy's, making it one of the most critically acclaimed motion picture studios ever.

The victory of Pixar begins with "Toy Story" from 1995, where we follow the problems of a beloved plaything, Woody, the toy cowboy, as he must fight for attention with "Buzz Lightyear". The sequel, "Toy Story 2" came out in 1999.

In between the two "Toy Story" movies was "A Bug's Life" in 1998. This is a fun show about a faction of very painstaking ants who labor hard to amass food for the wintry weather only to have a collection of voracious, vicious grasshoppers come in and steal it all. Things must change, and Flik, an ant, is determined to find some new fighters who will help him stop the malicious grasshoppers.

"Monsters, Inc." came out in 2001. It is a wonderful narrative about the all of the monsters hiding under our children's beds and in their closets at nighttime, a bona fide classic.

In 2003, the most commercially profitable Pixar film to date, having grossed over $800 million worldwide, is "Finding Nemo", the tale of a charming little clown fish, who gets separated from his dad and taken away to live in an aquarium in a dentist's office. The movie follows the journey as Nemo's father travels the deep-sea to regain his son.

The year of 2004 brought us a motion picture about superhero's at their optimum. "The Incredibles" is about Mr. and Mrs. Parr, who were previously known as Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. They had to give up their crime fighting careers to turn into ordinary people and raise a family in the suburbs. When the temptation of his earlier life as a superhero overtakes Mr. Incredible, can Elastigirl and the rest of the Incredibles rescue him?

These great movies were followed by "Cars' in 2006, a amusing motion picture about a car named Lightning McQueen and what he learns about being happy and triumphant in the settlement of Radiator Springs. "Ratatouille" in 2007, is about Remy the rat and his dreams of being a cook in a fine French restaurant. And from 2008, a movie all about Love, and the last remaining robot left inhabiting the earth," Wall-E".

And what is predicted to be the very finest Pixar movie yet, "Up" from 2009. Maybe we can attain our lifelong dreams, no matter our age. An elderly man makes his lifetime dreams come true with some determination and perseverance.
