How To Maintain The Home Drain

By Scott Rodgers

For every homeowners a home is the costliest possession. No matter what may be the design of the inside and outside house be if the drainage is not clear then the house is worthless. If there is any foul odor present all the time one cannot live with the embellishment home.

The drainage system is built under the home. These drainage system executes a particular task for the passage of not required liquid. It performs chucking out the rain water or the house water. Water can be real or unreal.

It is necessary to have a perfect drainage system for every home. These drainage system should have right type of openings for the flow of water otherwise the water will get clogged . There might be a chance of erosion in the foundation, making the building unstable and create danger to the living beings. A drainage system is usually built with cemented wall with tanks to store and pipes connected according the size and configuration.

There are two types of drainage water. Foul water and surface water. Foul water consists of anything that comes from bathrooms, cleaning the living rooms and kitchens. While surface water is rainwater only.

In the ancient times the surface water and the sub-surface water pipes were joined together. But in the recent times these are placed differently. Hence in this way the surface water are flowed to the surface water pipes. Thus avoiding to create the pungent smell in the environment.

Before the drainage work takes place one must ask for guidance from the building control department. One must not do it if he/she is unaware about the drainage system covering his house. If the drain pipe or its any fittings is to be made slippery than it is suggested not to use any oil or lubricating material as it may cause risk by developing a leak and thus making the fittings loose.

Before using all the drain pipes must undergo some technical conditions so that they do not leak before concealing. It is essential that these drain pipes must cross the essential test before it is used. Hence the cost, the pain and the time will be reserved.

Under normal situations the pipe and fittings are fully supported by the weight surrounding the pipe. If they are not supported when being tested, the internal pressure may partially push the fittings apart causing them to leak. Old drains must never be tested as they cannot withstand the internal pressure.
