Some of the best and worst restaurants need the occasional remodel. If you are able to acquire the knowledge and skill to be able to create the atmosphere that the owner wants for his restaurant will also help new graduates find a position.
Owners are often times too busy to worry about the small stuff and to find the ideas of what they may want to do with their restaurant. This is where a valuable employee can come into play. You can move your way up the ladder if you have the skills to handle any project, big or small.
Higher end restaurants are usually harder to get into. It is almost impossible to go from culinary school straight to a position with one of these restaurants. The sky is the limit when you possess the desired skills.
Just imagine the night club who would have special features or entertainment nightly. Imagine managing everything that would go into working with a major group coming in to perform. There would be all of the publicity, all of the extra foods and supplies and set ups. Just arranging for the special needs of the group would drive one crazy.
Do they want one Cola to drink over another, or one type of bottled water? There would be a mind boggling schedule of making sure the act arrived on time, had everything in place as needed, met their scheduled to departure after the evening performance. But oh what a ride!
