Make Money With A Camera, Kids

By Jack Webb

I just came across this idea the other day kids, how to make money with a camera. If you know how to use a digital camera, have access to one and can upload files onto the Internet, you're in!

No fancy skills required. You can make money with a camera just by taking shots of everyday things around the neighborhood and your home.

So kids, how to make money with a camera? It's a very simple idea. You're going to be thinking of photos that someone else might want to use in an ad campaign for example, taking those shots and uploading them to websites called Stock Photo sites where they will be on display for the world to see.

Advertising agencies, website designers, publishing companies and graphic artists are all prowling the Internet every day looking for new fresh content for their projects. Rather than thinking up the material themselves, they go to stock photo sites to find them. When they do, they pay for the privilege of using them. And that, kids, is how to make money with a camera. If the photo is yours you get a commission from the download fee paid by the user.

It sounds very easy to make money with a camera and it is, but there's something very important to keep in mind. The photos must be of high quality and contain only content allowed by the stock photo sites. They are very strict about what they will allow to be uploaded. Study their regulations carefully.

You should also be aware of the sites' age limitations. They want everyone to be at least 18 before they can sign up for an account. But we know how serious and mature you are so what about asking one of your parents to help out and get an account for you? It wouldn't be against the rules if you all participated in choosing and taking photos to make money with a camera, would it? It could be a fun family project!

Stressing once more the importance of following rules, the whole family might want to study them carefully before you even sign up for the account. It can't be stressed enough. Before you attempt to make money with a camera, learn all the regulations well.

After you feel comfortable that you understand the site regulations, spend a few hours perusing the photos located there already. Try to get some feeling for the why's and how's. Why did someone choose to take this shot and how did they do it? Especially look at the ones being downloaded more often than others. Try to see if there's a common trait among the photos being bought. If you study long enough you will likely come up with ideas on how to start your first effort to make money with a camera.

Individually the commissions paid seem too small to worry about, but you've got to think about the possibility of uploading photos that get purchased many, many times. Some shots get downloaded hundreds and thousands of times. That's when you know you've learned how to make money with a camera!
