Delta Hacked My Email

An airline passenger rights advocate is accusing Delta Air Lines of hacking into her computer and e-mail accounts to sabotage her organization's attempts to mandate basic services during flight delays.

Kate Hanni, a resident of California, is the founder of the Coalition for an Airline Passengers Bill of Rights, an organization lobbying for federal laws that require airlines to provide bathroom access, clean air, and access to medical treatment when passengers are held up for hours on the tarmac. The legislation would also give passengers an option to exit the plane if they have been delayed on the tarmac for over three hours. Four versions of a "Airline Passenger's Bill of Rights of 2009″ are currently pending before Congress.

In a lawsuit filed in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, Hanni accuses the world's largest airline carrier and an aviation consulting firm of conspiring to breach her computer and email in order to derail her lobbying efforts. She seeks a minimum of $11m in damages.

According to court documents, Hanni claims earlier this year she began exchanging emails with Frederick Foreman, an analyst with Virginia-based Metron Aviation who was researching US government airline surface delay data. During their correspondence, both swapped data and information about surface delays without explicit permission from Metron, of which Delta is a client.

Hanni said her PC and American Online email account were both accessed illegally this summer, with AOL confirming the email breach. Some of her data was copied to an unknown location, and other files were corrupted and rendered useless.

The plot thickens in Foreman's affidavit. He claims that on September 25, 2009, Metron executives confronted him with "what appeared to be hacked and stolen email communications" between Hanni and himself, as well as two media contacts. The emails were sent from his private accounts on MSN and AOL and not sent through Metron's internal email system, he claims.

Foreman states in his sworn affidavit that the executive informed him the emails were sent to the Metron from Delta and that the airline was "mad and upset" Hanni had been provided with the flight delay information. Foreman claims he tried to explain that the data was publicly available online from US government statistics, but was still fired and escorted off the premises.

When reached for comment, Delta flatly stated, "the allegation that we would hack an individual's e-mail is absurd."

Hanni claims Delta has a motive for seeking and destroying her data because if passenger rights bills are passed, airlines stand to lose over $40m in revenues in addition to millions more in accommodations for customers exiting planes during long delays. Currently, airlines are not restricted by law on how long planes can hold passengers on the tarmac.

Below are two areas I found are often overlooked. By focusing on them, your chances of gaining executive support will be greatly improved.

According to several executives I interviewed, team leaders and function heads often mistakenly conclude that one brilliant pitch is enough to gain agreement and buy-in. The reality is that support doesn't happen overnight.

It can take 3 or 4 years to gain enough executive support to increase congressional funding according to one government agency executive I spoke with. While most corporate initiatives would never take so long, he used the example to emphasize that managers and team leaders must understand the strategic and long-term perspective senior management has on the organization. 1. State clearly the ways that the entire organization will benefit from your plan.

While nominally taking subordinate status to the Evans/Griffin main event the most shocking result by far was Frank Mirs second round TKO stoppage of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. In the light heavyweight championship match, Forrest Griffin got off to a good start in his title defense by using his superior height and reach and an impressive array of kicks to keep Rashad Evans just out of range for two full rounds. That changed dramatically in the third, as Evans ended the fight with a punishing punching attack.

The most highly anticipated match on the undercard also featured a lopsided TKO finish as Quinton Rampage Jackson dominated Wanderlei Silva in the third fight between the two men. It was Jacksons first fight since his well publicized hit and run incident in Orange County, California and he looked very sharp throughout before bringing the contest to a close with a perfectly placed left hook to the cheekbone.

The foreign exchange market most often called the forex market is the most traded financial market in the world. Average daily currency trading volumes exceed $2 trillion per day. That is a mind boggling number isnt it. To give you an idea it is 10-15 times the size of the daily trading volume on all the world stock markets combined.

While commercial and financial transactions in the currency markets represent huge nominal sums, they still pale in comparison to amounts based on speculation. By far the vast majority of the currency trading volume is based on speculation.

Almost something like 90% of the volume in currency trading is speculative in nature. Traders buying and selling currencies for short term gains based on minute to minute, hour to hour and day to day fluctuations.

There are only a few currencies that take the bulk of foreign exchange transactions. Unlike stocks, forex trading involves trading two currencies simultaneously in pairs. The major currency pairs are EUR/USD, GBP/USD, JPY/USD and CHF/USD. Activity in the forex market frequently functions on regional currency blocs basis where bulk of the trading takes place between the USD bloc, JPY bloc and the EUR bloc representing the three largest economic regions. The bulk of the spot currency trading almost like 75% takes place in the so called major currencies which represent the worlds largest and most developed economies.

Forex markets are highly liquid. Liquidity represents how much faster or easier it is to buy or sell an asset. In other words, liquidity is the level of buying or selling volume available at any given moment for a particular asset or security. A highly liquid market like the forex can see large trading volumes transacted with relatively minor price changes.

Forex markets are the most liquid financial markets with a very high volume of transactions. At any given moment, dozens of global financial centers are open such as Sydney, Hong Kong, Tokyo, New York or London and currency trading desks in those financial centers are active in the market. The forex market is open and active 24 hours a day from the start of the business hours on Monday morning in the Asia-Pacific time zone straight through to the Friday close of business hours in New York.

There is no official starting time for trading day or week. But for all practical purposes the market kicks off when Wellington, New Zealand, the first financial center opens on Monday morning local time. It roughly corresponds to Sunday afternoon in US, Sunday evening in EU and early Monday morning in Asia.

Forex markets are unlike the stock markets or for that matter any other market. As pointed out above currencies are always traded in pairs. You can go long as well as short on any currency pair. In the stock market, you cannot go short on any stock. There is an up tick rule as well that prevents you to go short on a particular stock. Unlike other financial markets, you can see around the clock action in the forex markets except on weekends. Forex markets are open 24/5. Sunday open represents the resumption of trading after the Friday close of trading in North America. This is the first chance for the forex market to react to news that may have happened during the weekend. Prices may have closed New York trading at one level. However, they may start trading at another level altogether at the Sunday open.

UFC 88 Flashback: Rashad Evans Earns Respect

Rashad Evans didnt scream about demanding respect in his prefight interviews because hes smart enough to know that respect must be earned. He earned it and then some with a devastating 2nd round TKO of Chuck Liddell in the main event of UFC 88.

If Evans needed any more validation of how little respect he was getting, he could have taken a look at the UFCs text message prediction poll of the main event which favored The Iceman by a whopping 81% to 19% margin. Or he could have listened to the UFC announcers, who had all but penciled Liddell in for a return to light heavyweight title contention after his inevitable victory.

From the opening horn, Evans showed no fear of Liddells once legendary power. Instead, he danced and moved (which was dumbly criticized as showboating by the UFC announce team), using his slick footwork and speed to dart in and out of range of Liddells punches. In the process, he was able to use his superior handspeed to get off first. His punches werent exactly highlight reel power shots at this point, but were nonetheless effective as evidenced by a cut opened under Liddells eye.

Evans highlight reel power shot was to come in the 2nd round. Liddell backed Evans up near the cage wall and went to throw an uppercut. Simultaneously, Evans responded with an overhand right that landed quicker, harder and more accurately. The perfectly placed punch knocked Liddell out cold and referee Herb Dean jumped in to cover him up and wave off the fight without taking a second look. Evans' KO was one of the most devastating in the history of the sport, and made all the more so by the status of the man on the receiving end.

Rashad Evans raised his record to 17-0-1, with the lone blemish a draw against Tito Ortiz at UFC 73. Liddell, meanwhile, saw his record drop to 21-6"with three of those six losses coming in his last 4 fights.

Liddells loss notwithstanding, it was a good night for UFC veterans as Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson won their fights in impressive fashion. Franklin looked particularly sharp in dismantling tough Matt Hamill, eventually prevailing by 3rd round TKO. Hamill had trouble getting inside for the takedown he needed to compete in the bout, and every time he closed the distance he was met with a barrage of Franklin punches and kicks.

This was the UFCs first trip to Atlanta and despite a good attendance the crowd itself was somewhat disappointing. In a marked contrast to the knowledgeable and enthusiastic fans at the Target Center in Minneapolis for UFC 87"arguably the best MMA crowd ever at a US venue"the live crowd at Phillips Arena often acted as if they were at a taping of Georgia Championship Wrestling.

More problematic was the crowds utter lack of respect for the fighters postfight. Poor Dong Hyun Kim was booed during his postfight interview like he was Professor Toru Takana cutting a heel promo on Mr. Wrestling 2 after winning the Georgia Heavyweight Title by throwing salt in his opponents eyes while the referee was distracted. Not quite the respect that a 4th degree judo black belt whod just won a very tough fight deserves. Kims treatment by the fans cant be written off as a reaction to a close split decision victory; Rashad Evans was booed after his victory over Liddell, and short of decapitating The Iceman there was no way his win could have been more decisive.
