Want To Start A Blog? Here's An Idea: Vlogging!

By Emil Yau

With the evolution of online video sites (thank you Youtube!) people have started putting videos online of just about anything and everything. It was only a matter of time before people started putting their thoughts, reviews, and opinions online. And voila! The video blog a.k.a. vlog is born.

For those starting a blog for personal reasons, Vlogging with Youtube works quite well. It can be fun and entertaining to just plop yourself in front of a video camera and chatter away and then upload the video to Youtube or one of the many video sharing sites.

Now if you put this on a business prospective, you can see a a lot of benefits. Think of it as a powerful method in showing your prospective customers your line of products or your services. It's just like showing a commercial but for free.

You can almost think of it as books versus movies or books versus television. Did you ever have to read a book in high school and then opted to watch the movie instead? This is similar, except you are controlling the movie. You can sum up the salient points in your video and even offer a link for more information and direct that link towards your whitepaper or article.

If your business is just starting up, you can create a video blog right at your own home. All you need is your web camera and microphone or just regular digital camera, video software (both Windows and Mac have free video software), and a computer with internet connection. For as long as you know how to use your camera, then you can create a video blog.

With a bit of practice with the video editing software you can get some really nice professional looking videos out on the internet in no time. For businesses this is really a dream tool to build your business. For personal blogging, it is just a fun way to reach new readers and also just have fun with your blogging.

So go to it and start a blog video!
